Hey Guys,

I have a 2001 Monster M900 S i.e.. I would occasionally stall at 1st/2nd Gear from Netural and/or at Low RPM (Slowing down for Traffic, Starting from 0.. et al).
What I would do is that I would let it sit on the side of the road for a little bit and pray at the Ducati Gods [Dolph] and hope that it would get answered. Most of the time I do get answered immediately, but occasionally the bike just sits there keep stalling when trying to engage to a gear (1st or 2nd) from Neutral. Oh BTW, it starts on Neutral but not on Gear when I pull on the clutch.

Here are the things that might be a factor.
1.) Just changed the Clutch Master Cylinder with a used part from ebay
            - Prior to this problem, my bike was dropped and the Clutch Master Cylinder broke and had to be replaced.
            - I think that the clutch pressure might be losing.
                        - Is there a way to check this??

2.) Valve Adjustment needs to be done
            - Just passed 7000 Miles and haven't checked the Valve Clearance.
            - Wondering if this might play a factor?

3.) Leaking Oil from the Oil Filter
            - It leaks everytime i start the engine and idle it at around 2K
            - Long Shot, but hey...

4.) Occasional **Popping** of the AirBox when starting
            - It might be because I'm running Rich?

5.) Battery is in Good Condition... Just Charged

Any Advice would help me a lot guys.

Does the bike lurch forward when you put it in gear?

Did the stalling start when you replaced the master?

No Sir, the bike doesn't lurch forward whenevr I put it to First or Second.

and

I'd say yes to the stalling after i replaced the Master Cylinder. Although , the bike ran perfectly fine for a good month before this started happening

1) It could be that you have air in the clutch line and the clutch isn't disengaging fully and you're stalling out because of it. Bleed it thoroughly and get all the air out first. It's a pain to get all the air bubbles out, and when you think you have gotten them all you have problems because you haven't. Been there.

2) The valves wouldn't be doing that unless they were way out of spec which I doubt at 7k miles, but you never know.

3) I don't know about this one. Other people sometimes have this problem and for the life of me I cannot see why. It certainly wouldn't be the cause of your stalling trouble, but the filter may just need to be tightened or worst-case crossthreaded. There may even be gasket material from a previous filter preventing a good seal. Best to change the filter and oil now and inspect. Not a good thing to have oil leaking from there, it could get on your rear tire and ruin your day.

4) Occasional popping from the airbox. First off how do you know you're running rich. Have you pulled the spark plugs and checked the color of the electrodes? Are you smelling unburned hydrocarbons coming from the mufflers? Because the common case is that they run lean, unless you have a Termi kit. I had popping when lazily cruising at 3500rpm steady. It got to the point I could replicate it perfectly. Valve adjustment and subsequent throttle sync cured it.

5) You may have charged the battery or tried to charge it or even think you charged it, but that doesn't mean the battery is good. If it's old, it's weak, end of story. Ducati electricals- that includes wiring, regulator/rectifier, battery- suck. I'd consider upgrading them all to better components. Electrical flakiness, no matter how minor, makes these bikes run like crap. Oh, and do be sure that the engine case ground wire connection is clean and tight. It will be right in front of the rear wheel.

hey man,

sorry for the late update but ive been busy lately. Anyways, I have tried to:

1.) Bleed the clutch line. I think that I've thoroughly bled the clutch line, I almost downed a whole bottle of Dot 3.

2.) Recharged the battery, just to make sure.

3.) Cleaned the engine case ground wire connection.

Still, the bike stalls everytime I put it to any gear.
The bike doesn't jump at all, it just simply stalls.

Now, I'm starting to believe it might be something major.

Any advice?

This might be a long shot but check the kickstand sensor. When triggered the bike can't be put in gear while the stands down I think even with the clutch depressed. I read of a way to bypass the sensor somewhere.
