Cheers. Can confirm it IS a cloth air filter with with "webbing". Got the oil/cleaning kit from Autobarn for $14.99 (reduced from $24.99) yesterday. Will give it an oil regardless, because i can't be sure if it's pre-oiled or not. All good. Thanks.

over oiling was the cause of many problems on the commodores when everyone started using this kind of filter. the excess oil was making a mess of the air flow sensors and thus effecting the tunes negatively. some also claimed over oiling the cloth was worse than a std filter.

if i was you and going to oil it i would clean it first just to be on the safe side.

Will definitely tread carefully based on that....cheers.

Ok - just for anybody who's reading this later and may be in a similar position - Commonwealth Motorcycles have now confirmed that the filter in question does come PRE-OILED. (It's going in today)...cheers.

It's usually a good idea to, at the very least, have someone check your A/F ratios after doing any sort of intake work. An increase of air without an increase in fueling may have you running a little lean.  :-[
