Hello,
looking for a bit of guidance to get my bike running
long story short :
turn the key on no fuel pump sound, cranks but will not start
I removed the fuel pump and tested it with a 9 volt battery and the
pump runs
check for voltage at the wiring harness w/key on 12.?? volts then drops down
to 0.??
cranking I get approx 9.?? volts
so far so good
I connect a 9 volt battery to the fuel pump side of the harness and I can hear the
pump running

it originally stalled on me while idling
tried to restart and discovered that the fuel pump would prime sporadically
then eventually stopped priming

I removed the fuel filter and found it to be very restricted
after replacing it I found a crack at the fuel line inside the tank after the fuel
filter
did temporary repair with some jb weld

is it possible that the restriction damaged my pump enough to reduce the output ???

not sure what to check at this point
I don't want to spend $200.00++ on a fuel pump if that is not the problem

hope someone can offer some assistance

Thanks in advance

If you need a cheaper alternative to the OEM pump here's a link for ya.

I'll leave the technical stuff on troubleshooting to more knowledgeable people.

Best of luck.

ok,
thanks for that info,
poking around the net ,
it looks like I may need to replace the fuel pump relays

apparently they are prone to erratic failure

the part # is 541.1.180.1A
apparently I can use a generic 12 v replacement as long as it is good up to
30 amps

well I just got off the phone with my local auto parts store
and they will be delivering a couple of relays this afternoon

will post back tomorrow
