Not sure what I did as I have changed the battery before and nothing went wrong.

Went to put hook the batter tender up and when I went to disconnect the red lead from the batter I saw a couple of sparks (should the black lead have been disconnected first?).  After getting everything off and connecting the tender, there is now a high pitched sound when the bike is in the off or steering locked position.  The sound is akin to that sound you heard as a kid when they were testing your ear expect this will not stop.  The only way I get get the sound to go away is to have the ignition in the on position.

What could I have possibly done wrong and what do I need to do to fix it.

Thanks for the help oh wise forum!

Always disconnect the negative first...and reconnect last.

Don't know what the noise is, but I'd check the relays.

You can use a long screwdriver as a stethoscope to help isolate where the sound is coming.  If that doesn't help, remove the fuses one at a time until the noise stops.  This tells you which circuit is supplying electricity to the buzzing component.  Then you can unplug each component until the noise stops.  Meanwhile, when you are not working on the bike, disconnect the negative on the battery so you don't kill the battery.

Thanks for the advice and guidance.

Took the bike for a spin and the sound when away.  I'm going to take a closer look at everything when it's light outside.

I'm not the most electrically inclined individual so the help is much appreciated.
