Needing your input!!!

I'm looking to install handlebars Risers to get additional height. Has anyone installed the following:
http://www.slingshotracing.net/catalog/ducati-monster-handlebar-bar-riser-696-abs-p-238.html

If you are familiar with this item can you please tell me:
- does an 1.25 inch of height really make that much of a difference
- will the risers interfere wit the turning radius, in other words will the bars hit against the plastic air tank covers
- is there enough length in the cables and hoses without any major adjustments.

Pics of the  risers installed on  a 696 would also be greatly appreciated.

Thank you

I think several others have done this.
THere is a Ducati Performance rise kit similar to this I think. It comes with new cables so I would think you'll be needing the same.
It might raise the bars above the take so you may have no issue on that though.
That much rise definitely will feel different though.
I had the old Monster City that had high rise bars and it was very comfortable.

If you do a quick search in the accesories and mods section for either 'riser' or 'rizoma bar' or something similar you might find more information.

I have the rizoma handle bar and risers.. Had dealer installed them for me... Didnt need no extra cable . But once they installed it I couldn't lock my handle , and when I called dealer about it , they said if they adjust the handle bar where it will get locked, it would probably hit the tank.

Went to another dealership , mechanic adusted the handle bar now I can lock and it doesnt hit the tank at all.

Idk much about the one you posted but look at rizoma too.

Hi,
I picked up and installed a riser similar (if not the same) as this one (http://www.ebay.com/itm/DUCATI-HANDLEBAR-BAR-RISER-MONSTER-696-ABS-/230554057477) off of e-bay after reading some info about it on the board. It raises the bar on my '10 696 by 1.25". A couple of notes that I have found :
1) the increase in bar height is noticeable and I have found it to be more comfortable. I installed before a five-day ride in New England over the summer, and I was lad I did.

2) If you are using an aftermarket wind screen, you may find that the fittment may or may not work out. I was using a Givi screen and the additional height caused the wind to deflect into my helmet and increased the wind noise significantly. I have since gone back to the stock fairing. I occasionally wonder if I would rather have the Givi fairing and the lower bar height... but then I just go for a ride and forget about it.

3) Most concerning - I have noticed with the riser installed that if I am sitting in neutral, and I lock the steering all the wat to the left, that the engine will rev w/o twisting the throttle... this makes me think that there is a very minimal amount of play in the existing cable for rising the bar (obviously)

Anyway, that is my experience with a bar riser. Other risers may provide a more accurate fit. I do like the added height.

Good luck,
Patrick

60mm Risers installed from Rizoma with the spacers they give you. Such a subtle yet noticable rise.

The stock risers were 57mm when I measured them from the top of the triple tree to the middle point where the bars sit. The estimated height of the Rizoma risers with the spacers Rizoma provides is about 67 mm. For this upgrade, no cables were needed and its about a 10mm net rise.

For a 1.25 " rise, I think you will run into trouble trying to make the stock cables fit. I also think you'll need to adjust the steering stops so much that you'd have to start doing 12 point turns instead of 3 point turns.

I'd suggest either the DP handlebar kit that comes with all the cables if you were interested in a large rise, or Rizoma Risers if you wanted a more subtle rise with adjusted bar position (the bars are shaped differently than stock).

I also think the Rizoma setup looks phenomenal.

Thank you to every one for your input and suggestions. I'll do more research on what is my best option and  then decide. The bike is now put away for winter so I do have  some time to decide prior to March when I hope to be on the road again.

 Winter has arrived in Canada!!!

Thank you Patric696,

Since you installed the same risers that I'm thinking of getting, are yoy able to lock your handle bars accordingly and is the bar hitting or touching against the tank at all ? Any pics of the bars?

Thanks
