part identification --- what is this?

hi everyone, i'm wondering if anyone can tell me what the this part is.  it's on the left side of my Monster 1100 EVO, a black plastic box with a rubber hose coming out of it.  the end of the rubber hose is just tucked into the engine.  what is this?  or how can i find out?
