Where is the starter relay on a 2001 M600? The Haynes manual says it's under the air box on the right side, but I couldn't find it there. Can someone post a pic of what it looks like? Thanks.

It should be right under the battery.

Thanks, ducpainter. Yeah, I thought so. I was just hoping I wouldn't have to lift the tank cos I just filled it up. Guess I have to go for a long ride now. Oh, forgot the bike won't start, hence the original question.  [bang]

Turn the key on.  Make double sure the bike is in neutral since you are bypassing all safetys.  Set the choke as you would normally.  With jumper cables, from known good battery (yes, your car battery is fine, just don't run the car), positive to the lug on the starter motor.  Touch negative to a good ground.  Remove negative when bike starts.  Go use up some gas.

Before doing that (assuming you still have the nipple in the gas cap) raise the tank with two hands to reduce stress on the hinge.  The fuel may or may notdrip out of the cap.  If it doesn't drip, support the tank in the middle with a board.
