I recently filed a warranty claim for my 2007 S2R1000 tank (which is warped b/c of the ethanol/plastic issue) and was successful.  This is awesome news, b/c buying a new tank for $2k made me nauseous.

'm the second owner of the bike and the person who I bought it from had the dealer change the whole body from a glossy to matt (which I prefer anyway).

The issue is that I now have to instruct the dealer who filed the warranty claim for me to order a new tank and the 2007 S2R1000 didn't come in a matt black.

I'm _pretty_ sure that the original owner had the dealer swap all the painted parts with new parts from a 2007 695 Dark... but I'm not sure.

So, my question for the forum is: "Can anyone confirm that a 2007 695 Dark tank can be retrofitted to a 2007 S2R1000 Body?"

@stopintime - Thanks!  Though... I'm still not 100% sure based on my findings.

The 2007 695 matt black tank Code No. is 586.1.045.1BF

The 2007 S2R1000 black/white stripe Code No. is 586.1.044.1CK

I don't know what these numbers signify...  any thoughts?

1BF stands for Matt black
1CK stands for black/white stripe.

.045 /044 may be a problem.  I looked up the part number for an '06 SR2 Dark, the part number is 586.1.044.1BF

what does that particular number signify? (measurement?)

I have no idea, probably nobody outside the parts catalog folk do.   But it does look like a "dark" tank on the 2006 SR2 will fit since the numbrers are the same
