well put the new x ring gasket in ( changed filter as well ) tightened all screws in cross motion and to torque spec .....fric and frac ..still leaks at flange !!!

What I did notice is that when i took the screws out the last 2 were under tension ...and hand starting the screws had a pregnant dog of a time getting the last one in .

So I guess i am in the Plastic swollen tank group now ......but because I am coming so late to the party am I screwed ?

If so is there any sealant I could apply to flange so it will mold and seal ? or is a new tank the only option ?

I am in Canada ...and my Duc dealer is a bozo ..and hard nosed so seriously doubt he will go to bat for me

The dealer has no leverage with Ducati on this. It was adjudicated...at least in the US. It might be different in Canada.

Have you put a straight edge on the flange to decide how much it might be warped? I'm thinking a machine shop could mill it flat if it isn't too bad.

I'll check that tomorrow ' but I think it is a more out of round situation with the flange hole.

I will call Duc dealer tomorrow ..but I know this guy he will balk me all the way even though he has no say in it .

I think there's plenty of tolerance to cover out of round.

I'm betting it's not flat enough.

Its flat but for 1 mm ...out of round screw to screw is almost 3 mm

But good news Duc dealer surprised me ...he called Duc rep and they want to see the whole bike ???? with tank installed and take pictures .

The deal is that if Ducati approves the replacement tank I pay for "shop time " to remove and install " new tank about 2 hours .

I will tell him don't install so i can coat it

Fingers crossed

So they can charge you 2 hours labor?  Maybe not right, but how much is that shiny new tank worth to you

My bike had to have a photo session as well. I think it's normal procedure.  They take photos at certain angles showing how the tank is puffy around the trellis as a reference.
