S2R sluggish under 6K RMP, is this normal?

I have a 2008 S2r1000 with 7200 miles, Marvin mid pipe and 2 to 1 exhaust and a 14t sprocket, stock ECU. While riding, when the revs drop below 6K it seams sluggish, over 6K and it is smooth. I am not sure if there is a problem or is this normal.

Definitely NOT normal.  That engine should pull at 3500 rpm.....especially with that crazy 14t sprocket.

What your saying is in the closed loop portion of the fuel mapping the bike isn't performing as well.

Many people here run the FatDuc O2 manipulator and are very happy with it.  Others go to more programmable ECU's which sometimes require excessive tinkering to get the setup right.

If you're not going to make radical changes to the air intake (pods, chopped box) or exhaust (chopped, cored, open) the FatDuc is a nifty little bandaid that's well worth the $80.  If your planning things more radical it won't get you far.

You're really close to a major service interval.  Maybe wait and see what the upcoming valve adjustment and tune will do before you worry too much?

Just ordered one from Jeff @monsterparts. Sounds like what I need, thought it was running a little lean, due to symptoms more noticeable in colder weather.

I think you'll like it.  I called it a bandaid but the real bandaid is the 14t sprocket.  You may want to go back to 15 when you have the FatDuc dialed in sweet.  Depends on how much urban work you do.

Instead of a fatduc, I would go and use ducatidiag, buy the write function for 100 euros, and reflash your ecu to remove the lambdas.

around the same price and it will completely remove the problem instead of masking it.

you can also reflash it to the termi map or whatever else map has been uploaded to the ftp.

I put the Fatduc on and can not believe the difference it makes!! The 14t sprocket and G2 throttle tamer was put on to try to improve the hunkahunk at lower revs. I believe the Fatduc would have taken care of my problem. It will idle around in 1st without any slipping of the clutch and keeping the revs up. Around town it is way smoother. 2nd gear at 2k is something it would have not done before, no problem now. No more stalling out at the first stop sign before it is warmed up. It may not the best fix, but bang for buck it works for me. I think it will be even better once it warms up outside.

Thanks, again for the advice DMF!!!
