Intermitant headlight failure

So I noticed it the other day, and then tonight when I was tearing down the 5 freeway...  under a hard pull my headlights shut off...completely.  High beam lamp was still lit on the dash, but the light itself (high and low) was totally out.  when it happened before (dusk) i put my hand on the tail light and hit the rear brake to make sure the lighting fuse wasnt shot, and sure enough, all tail lights functioning.  now tonight i got the light to come back with a hard engine brake... I figure theres GOTTA be something loose somewhere, but I checked the main molex connector and its plenty tight...

Anyone?!?

(i mention the blinkers because I HAVE had it apart..)

I would check the connector at the headlight itself and at the relay (unfortunately I don't know where it is located).  '11?  Warranty, no?

Yes it's under warentee, but that doesnt help me much when I go into stealth mode at 80 mph...  Its going in for a service in ~500 miles, so hopefully it will behave till then.

hi and low beams out eliminates fuses and relays, right?

check for a bad ground from the headlight or bad connection/intermittent power at hi/lo dimmer switch

My thoughts exactly, also eliminates a bad bulb.  I had a problem on the last bike where the fender eliminator pinched a tail light wire and took out the entire lighting circuit on the bike, but like I said, my tail and directionals still work.  It happened again last night, it almost seemed related to engine RPM...but its too hard to duplicate for me to know for sure.  Also, it only happnes when the bike is cold - a few minutes into the ride.  I cant wait for the dealer to not be able to reproduce it.
