Instrument Cluster Removal / Swap?

I laid my bike down 2 weeks ago. Bike for the most part is fine, lost a lever and mirro, little scratch on tank. But the worst part is some clutch / brake fluid leaked onto my cluster, causing the the plastic lense to crack and the paint on the plastic to come off. The cluster itself is still functional.

Reading the archives, it seems almost impossible to just swap the lenses over, so is it possible to just remove the front bezel  (face) of the cluster and swap over with another one?

Hi there, I've researched the instrument cluster a bit on my end as well.  The bezel and entire cluster is one piece.  I have a minor crack in my tachometer--and wish I could simply replace the plastic lens.  Ducati sells an entire cluster for $800, not including labor.   Good luck finding a used one!

At some point, the instrument clusters were made such that you can take the face off, actually, you can disassemble the whole thing.

I think it was maybe '04 or thereabouts.

From Zipper 23's avatar, I'm guessing he's dealing with an '01 or '02 cluster, those definitely could not be disassembled.

You got it.  I have an 02 S4 foggy.  Looking to see if I can get an epoxy or something cheaper than a full replacement!

Interesting, I have an 06 S2R.. going to try to take this apart in a week or two. But if Ducati did in fact allow one to disassemble the whole thing, does that mean they offer spare parts, ie just the front face plate? I didnt see that option in the parts catalog...

Disassembly is a piece of cake, just requires a small phillips driver...  And if you source lenses or find one to cannibalize let me know, I could use some bits and pieces...  Mine is of the Digitech variety btw.
I ride both kinds,   Country, and Western.....

I have a 2002 S4 and I took the top bezel off in about 2 min just 2 screws.
I now need to look into some form of replacement, plastic welding new glass etc.
What has any body else done?
Cheers
