The ducks themselves putting it all on the line for us to get our own valve adjustments done
Doing a full service on my bike soon and am currently learning the skills needed to do an extensive and deep maintenance and developing a more fundamental understanding of motorcycle operation. And I've found a lot of great information on here from you guys so I definitely want to return the favor so I'll continue to update this thread as I find more excellent content related to Monster S4 maintenance / Servicing. Personally as it stands I'll be spending around $1000 for a fresh metric set, shim set (
https://emsduc.com/product-category/shim-kits/) belts from ca cycle (
http://ca-cycleworks.com/timing-belts.html) chain, looking for sprockets, the special tool to pull out the cam shaft, feeler gages, fluids and filters.
Full maintenance objectives:
Valve Adjustment - Check clearances, change out shims, replace rocker if chrome stripped.
New Belts - Need to take them off to get to my valves so will put new ones on.
Replace Chain and Sprockets - Still learning about ratios and teeth and "tall first gears" so undecided if will re-tooth to 14 or not; will replace chain and sprockets though. (Recommendations?)
Replace Spark Plugs - Taking them out before I get to valves so fresh in.
Replace Engine Oil Filter - (

Replace Fuel Filter - (

Replace Air Filter - Easy enough.
Replace Clutch/Break Fluid
Replace Coolant
Oil Change
So I figure instead of getting a DMP, which I might need anyway for cylinder compression tests and other stuff that I haven't looked into like throttle body adjustments and ECU updating stuff. I think the next thing to do would to get PC3 or something and flash the ECU or however that process works to get a better fuel air ratio / power map. I still have a ton to learn but I figure I will only get better so might as well start investing in the knowledge and while I'm doing that pass what I learn along to you. Starting with that video I found which is as far as I have found the best video on the internet related to desmoquattro valve adjustment.
To be continued...
