Are there any special tools required to check adjust valve clearances on an s4 and can they be checked adjusted with the engine in the frame also the belts are coming up due for a change and I was wondering if you need any special tools for this job and can this be done with the engine in the frame thanks for any info input in advance.

Had a look but the one thing worries me is it seems that you have to have the engine on the bench to adjust the valves please correct me if I'm wrong

Putting the motor on a bench makes everything easier to work with, but it can certainly be done with the motor still in the frame.

Motor is still in the frame.

I removed the seat, tank, airbox, battery, and loosened the throttle bodies so they could be moved around

Removing the radiator would make for more room with the horizontal intake valves but I left mine on

It's not the easiest thing to do. You'll need to be as prepared as possible ahead of time. And take your time with the measurements. I'm learning as I go and it is taking me a hell of a long time. Ask questions and stay organized. Definitely stay organized!

I know that once I have everything right and back together, I'm going to feel much better knowing that the bike is right where I want it to be.

Where about are you located?
