does my swollen 06 S2R tank hold more now?

Haven't seen my low fuel light in a year but on the same commute where it would pop up regularly a few miles before the station, does my 30K miles swollen tank hold more now or has my low fuel light died?

ducatiz

yes, they have a larger volume, but at a cost.

"Yelling out of cars, turning your speakers out the window to blast your music onto the street, setting off M-80 firecrackers, firing automatic weapons into the airâ€"these are all well and good. But none of them create a merry atmosphere of insouciance and bonhomie quite like a revving motorcycle.

Actually I would vote for the low fuel light.  I've got 35k on my 06 s2r tank, and while it is slightly swollen, it still only holds 3.5 gallons until it coughs.

When does your low fuel light come on? IIRC mine came on around 3.1 gallons on a fill half way up the neck, thanks all.

HeMan's tank swelled to the point he was getting close to 4 gal in his

crazy to imagine that would be about an 1800 cc increase, or a 12x12x12 cm increase in size overall.

somewhere between 3 and 3.2 gallons when filled to the little hole in the neck.  I get significantly worse gas mileage in the winter, so I just fill up when the light comes on.  One time recently either my mileage was terrible or it came on late, because I only got 10 miles before the first cough.

It seems to me there is a little float.  It may be stuck.

I think it is even weirder the variances between the tanks.  It must have something to do with HeMan using that East Coast gas  ;)

Mine really hasn't swollen significantly (but it doesn't matter because I don't get a new tank anyway, for the same reason they told HeMan).

Mines a lot worse in the winter too. Lately it's been around 30 F in the mornings and with all my gear on  I spaced and forgot to reset my trip meter. Have to go out of my way to go by a station and I was panicing that maybe the low fuel light was out. I'll have to carry a little fuel with me so I can really run it low to check the light and the tank capacity.

I found out the hard way this week that my S2R only goes 22 miles with the light on. Lucky for me it was a quarter mile down hill to a gas station. I'm getting about 130 before the light in colder weather. I would be excited if I get better mileage in the heat.

The other thing that wrecks fuel mileage is "southwest interstate speeds" for say, a tank of gas.  Then I am lucky to get more than about 100 miles to the light.

I think its more down to the fact that HeMan is the unluckiest bastard in the world.

Mines is swelling but not deforming. Just pushing against the ignition now. Ducati will probably just shift my tank bad from their settlement  [roll]. But I get only 100miles/tank before my gas light comes on. When I fill her up it only takes 2.25 gallons  :o.
