Removing fuel tank on Monster 1100

For my M1100, I picked up a MWR Air Filter & MWR Power-Up Air Filter Kit http://www.mota-lab.com/mwr-ducati-monster-696-796-1100-power-up-air-filter-kit-p-507.html as well as a flashed ECU.

It seems like the best way to install the power up kit is to remove the air intake box and dremel the bastard (no instructions, but it looks like I need to cut the squares after removing the cones on top).  And subsequently I believe I'm going to have to remove the gas tank....

So how does one go about doing that?  I dont really want to get into siphoning out the gas into some alternate container to put it back when I'm done, but if that's how the job is done I'll do it.  I read somewhere that the quick disconnects will come off and only leak a modest amount of fuel.... I could probably live with that if that's the truth.  Any thoughts?  I know the guys around here with WaspWorks (luckys!!) and DIY stacks have done this; what's the word?

Thanks!  [beer]

hehe...

you can have a friend just hold it to the side while you remove the airbox.

but seriously
just remove the cover protecting the fuel lines, squeeze the quick connects, unhook the fuel pump... done (don't forget the air vent hoses on top or you'll get a surprise picking it up)

oh and run the tank out first,, fuel is heavy

What specs did you get for your flash?  Is there one for  the MWR and Power up kit?
I'd be leery cutting up my airbox unless I was willing to pay for the PC + Autotune. The MWR moves a lot of air by itself and the power up kit opens up a lot more. I'd do the install in stages.
First I'd install the just the filter and flashed ECU and see how she runs. Then go from there.  [Dolph]

Anthony over at mota-lab flashed it for both the filter and the power-up kit as well as killing the O2 sensors and the exhaust flapper; should be all good I would think.  If I still have problems I can grab the PCV with auto-tune and fix her up.

Thanks for the help!!
