I hope he finishes his career with another title win! It would be fitting I reckon. A totally awesome young fella and brilliant rider.  applause

Ducati can win next year, not that they have a chance to do so this year!  bang head

Stunned!!

Absolutely Stunned at his announcement to call it quits at the end of the year, and in the prime of his life.

Maybe with his young family he has reconsidered his life and career prospects.

i think the kid popped in the last year ?

so lets see , he goes away on a high and with body intact

rumours of V8's are rife and that would suit ,  being back in aus full time and travelling around in a low risk sport

lets face it , he has been on the world circuit for a damn long time , so prob sick of it

time to settle back down with a home rather than living out of a caravan

prime reason why honda slapped an offer down just recently

i dont care if you have been a mechanic for 10 years doing something for a long time does not make you good at it, take my gf for an example shes been walking for 28 years and still manages to fall over all the time.

The only thing that has surprised me is that he has made it public so early in the season.

I seem to recall his old man saying way back at the start of his GP career that he (Casey) planned to not be in the sport too late into his twenties. After winning the title last year ... with a bub on the way and the untimely death of Simoncelli I actually thought he may have called it a day then.

God luck to the kid (sorry he still seems 16 to me) - I have huge respect for the guy ... and in this case I don't mean as a rider!

He seems extremely focussed (intense) but also very private. He values his privacy but I am intrigued to know what he plans for the future. Hopefully he doesn't become an also-ran in V8 racing.

He seems to have a reputation for being a sooky whinger lacking in personality (which I have never agreed with) but I do wonder whether this has helped him to walk away. He seems to draw no enjoyment from the media circus and little from the adoration his success has brought.

Hopefully he can continue his success throughout the season and move on a happy man.

I reckon he's going to have a stellar year, win the championship and walk away as a champion.

Rossi will be looking on going....ah, that's how it's done!

Lots of emotional stuff must be going on for him....I'd need an emotional decoder (i.e woman) to sort it out for me!

I do love watching him win!...so I'll miss that!

So does the mean an Oz Monsters farewell CS (and thanks for all the fish) ride to PI??  cheeky

I applaud him for making this decision and being honest and upfront.

I am not surprised VR saying he will stay in MotoGP for another 2 years now - very timely - he still wants to beat Ago's record and will be easier now Casey is gone.

Edit:  Jorge must feel a bit down now - no one really to chase next year - guess he can look forward to spoiling VR's plans!!  laughingdp

Apparently he spend around a month testing at a private track with a Vodafone team car late last year.
I do hope he doesn't try it and become an also ran because his career has been better than that   But then if it also just something to play with between fishing and camping well who wouldn't have a go at it.

Ahh hell yeah !
We were planning to go down even before this decision as last year was about the most fun I have had with my clothes on laughingdp
Congrats to CS and his decision , its all about timing  waytogo loved watching him race   Dolph , fall bang head , race win
and keep his privacy and not perform like an organ grinders monkey for the media circus.

Hmmm will this give VR an option to opt out of Ducati when his contract is up and go to Honda for his last hurrah ?

Dez - do you think Honda would want Vale back?

I'm surprised too that Casey has announced it so early in the season.  It must take a lot of guts to walk away at this stage when everyone wants him to stay and beat every record out.  Best time though whilst he's still in one piece and can enjoy life still. It was awful watching Mick Doohan struggle back after injuries and have to call it quits.

Hope he doesn't become another Wayne Gardner with the cars  Embarrassed  There has been more than a passing mention of going farming.  Feel sorry for any animal getting rounded up by Stoner on a chook chaser !!  Shocked

I just had this image of a RC213V with nobbly tires  Dolph

I very much doubt Honda will take Rossi back considering the wealth of talent out there - but then again nothing is impossible and if Honda want to dominate again they will go for the best!
