Oil cooler on an M600

So after much fiddling around from my friend who is a bike mechanic, my monster seems to be running ok.

I've been running it in and out of work with no issues. I've noticed that there is no oil cooler fitted as standard, is it possible to fit a cooler from a larger model as there seems to be plenty of them floating around, or is it more complicated?

you have two bolts closing off the feed and return.

you can use pretty much any cooler/hose setup from an M750 or later bike.

"Yelling out of cars, turning your speakers out the window to blast your music onto the street, setting off M-80 firecrackers, firing automatic weapons into the airâ€"these are all well and good. But none of them create a merry atmosphere of insouciance and bonhomie quite like a revving motorcycle.

Please don't forget to get the "diverter spring" that fits up inside the oil filter mount. Without it, the oil will not actually travel through the cooler. It's a cheap part. Look at a parts catalogue or image for any of the bikes that come with a stock cooler. It looks like a little disc/clip that is just above the oil filter. If you overlook this part, the entire cooler project is for naught. I fit one to my 620 and it made a serious improvement.

Is your climate or riding conditions such that you need a cooler? My 620 struggles to get to 200F in milder temps (<60F).
Condensation foams the oil and milks up the sight window until warm weather dominates.

Both. The weather in Phoenix gets well into the triple digits. That, coupled with some very spirited riding can see oil temps in the 300 degree range. Way too hot. I never had a problem with the high temps (I think there's actually a warning light that comes on at 323 degrees or so) but the oil cooler really helps.

unless your bike starts to run hotter, or you start monkeying with the engine, you'll be fine w/o it.

but yes, like the others have said, it is very easy to bolt on a cooler  [thumbsup]

Maybe this helps: http://www.ducatimonster.org/forums/upgrades-performance-mods/190920-diy-100-custom-m696-oil-cooler.html

pretty cool that it fits, aside from the right side line being backwards... clearance issue, perhaps?

OP has an M600, though. all the same OE parts are needed plus the valve cover that's thd'd for the cooler mount

the right angle fittings are the case side, the... er... not right angle fittings are the cooler side.

iirc.
