I'm gonna start this off by once again by apologizing for being such a newb and saying that I look forward to that day that I will be able to contribute something useful to this forum should that day ever come... until then, thanks to all of you who share your invaluable knowledge and experience.

Now that I've got that out of the way...

I got some CRG LS mirrors from a member here that I'm siked about installing as my '01 S4 came with only one mirror (stock) that gives me a pretty sweet view of the inside of my right elbow and a blind spot on my left I could hang a hammock in. Plus, these are gonna look so much cooler if I ever figure out how they go on...

So, I unscrewed the 6mm hex that holds my stock bar end-cap on:

and this is what's behind it:

...not the hollow bar I was expecting to find.

I'm stuck:
-There's not enough room to mount the crg's the standard way (w/o adapters) between that stock cap and the bar
-The crg adapters/shims I bought obviously won't go in there
-the tensioning screw on the adapter is too small for that threaded hole in the bar (now that would've just been too easy!! bang head)

I was expecting this to be a pretty easy upgrade but the S4's bars are different from the other similar-year monsters?  Anybody have a solution?

And, please, if I'm as dumb as I feel, go easy on me!!

Thanks again in advance.

Okay... nevermind: rhino moto makes an adapter for these solid bars, just have to figure out which size I need.

Jeez.

It's been a *long* time since I've had the stock bars on my S4, but IIRC, that's an 8x1.25 thread.

As an alternative, you could drill out the hole in those CRG adapters to fit an M8 bolt, and not spend more money.

Thanks Speeddog, That would've been a good solution but I just ordered the rhino moto's bc I like the sliders and they're only $20 more.

What kind of bars do you have and did you replace your stock triple with?

I'm running a stock triple with CycleCat adapters and rise/clipons.
