the 250cc limit will look like it works for a year or so cos all those guys who get their license will just wait out the one year capacity limit. then what little training did sink in will have long been forgotten and they'll be on a big bike with still no idea.
the capacity limit will be a dismal failure i think, what would really help would be decent training to begin with, not bike shops buying customers with easy licenses.
paul.
I was a squid on a 250 back in the days of steam power, learned from my mistakes (I mean how much trouble can you really get into on a XL 250
) and lived to tell the tale.True that 250s have come a long way in terms of power, that was what the idea of the LAMS restriction was all about. That is what the QLD government should be looking at as well as the shops buying customers with those easy licences.
Having been involved in all sorts of training programs in industry, it's a worrying trend that the training providers are given the responsibility for setting the standards of what they teach, therefore opening up a big pot of gold for themselves. They get paid on how many people they pass, not on the quality of what they deliver and that sucks.
I'm not a big fan of governmental oversight but if they are gonna get fair dinkum, some standards will have to be set and reviewed by independent bodies.
This is my second rant on the subject so apologies, but these people are out there and what once used to be an enjoyable relaxed ride through the hills has been F*cked up.
Anyhow rant over, now can someone point me to a nice "boy racer" free ride around the Brizvegas area.
