Does your S2R1000 only start in neutral?

Mine did that a while back... it was the clutch switch at the lever. The dealer blamed me and made me pay for the fix. Been fine ever since (5 years now).

I will have to take a photo. There is a gold ano piece on the lever that hits the switch which does have it's little nut on it. It just doesn't push it far enough. I might just cut a little piece of metal and PB weld it on. Or maybe I can find a little cap for the switch pin.
