Hello guys , the bike is 97 M900, originally with W heads ,I did a V heads swap, and after minimal machining of the head and the cylinder /those surfaces which are in contact when mounted / I expected that a thicker base gasket will be required ,but surprisingly the vertical cylinder squish now is around 0.7mm ,and horizontal 1mm. These measurements are made without gasket. So 0.3mm gasket for the vertical ,but what should I do with the horizontal ,is it normal? The original /from previous owner/ gaskets are 0.4mm both ,so the horizontal cylinder has been working with 1.4mm squish or what. What causes this problem ,I have soda blasted the surfaces where the gasket was /there was some sort of rigid sealant/ everything is clean ,even more - as I said the top of the cylinder is machined ,the head too , and the squish without a gasket is 1mm. Any tips from you ?

as far as i know the 1mm is the goal. sounds like your horizontal is good to go without any base gasket just make sure you use a good gasket sealant. i and some guys here use an aviation sealant that works great. its aviation form a gasket sealant item #80019, it was pretty cheap if i rem correctly. good luck!

This sounds great, I wasn't sure if it is recommendable to use no base gasket. Thank you!
