Maybe it's fixed this time

My ordeal started in March with what sounded like rocks in the crankcase and shrapnel on my drain plug.  My bike has been in the shop the majority of the year, all for the alternator bearings.

Repair attempt #1: Replace alternator bearings.  Repair lasted 600 miles
Repair attempt #2: Replace alternator bearings again.  Claimed clog oil port caused failure.  Repair lasted 800 miles.
Repair attempt #3: Replace alternator bearings again.  Claimed thrust  washer was incorrectly installed in original repair.

Hopefully this has put an end to this issue.  My main bearings are within tolerance and my motor should be good to go.

I hope it works out.

If it doesn't...maybe the process they're using for main bearing tolerance measuring is faulty.

What bike?

Sounds plausible. I have personally installed a thrust washer incorrectly that caused the alternator bearing to die. Hence why I made a comment on DT about checking crankshaft runout when installing a flywheel.

If the flywheel has been off,
+1 on Cris suggestion.Been there, done that, bearing wears out fast.
