I want Fcr41 carbs for my 94 Monster 900 , but since i ride in the arctic part of Norway the lack of choke is an issue that wories me ! The Mikuni TDMR 40 carbs is another flatslide alternative with a choke function  , but is a bit more expensive . Is there someone here who have tryed out the Mikuni TDMR carbs ? The only place i can find user info about them are in German language Duc forums , and my german are very rusty..:-)

In the USA, the TDMR carbs are VERY rare.  I was interested in using them as well, but found out they are no better than the FCRs and given their rarity, it would not be a good choice, even with the enrich start function.

From what I've read, they are decent and pretty much a drop in replacement for the CVs, and do reasonably well compared to the FCRs.  Nothing else, good luck.. Please report on your results if you make the TDMR jump.

"Yelling out of cars, turning your speakers out the window to blast your music onto the street, setting off M-80 firecrackers, firing automatic weapons into the airâ€"these are all well and good. But none of them create a merry atmosphere of insouciance and bonhomie quite like a revving motorcycle.

Do you get carb freezing with the CV carbs? You surely must! :o
There are single FCR MX variants that have an enrichener, but they would require modification.
If I was in a very cold climate I would jet on the rich side for easier starting as a matter of course. Both slow fuel jets and IMS could be set richer for the climate. The MX magazines advertise extended Idle Mixture Adjuster Screws that are turned by hand. They would allow you to set a starting mixture which you could turn back once the bike is warmed up.
