2012 1100 EVO instrument display difficult to read in daylight.

I was wondering if anyone has had the same opinion and if they had figured out a method to fake out the display in able to turn on the backlight during day time operation? I have not been able to locate a sensor, much less been able to block any portion of the unit to get the backlight on in sunlight.

I will happily slap myself upside my head if someone posts an owner manual page with instructions.  :)

Thanks.
