so long story short. Been swapping batteries in and out ( issue that is now solved) but that meant I was starting the bike and turning it off waaaay more than normal.

Today, went out and started the bike, there was a small puff of blue/gray smoke and a burnt smell. Then went away. At this point I was somewhat paranoid, so I heard what I thought was noise from the valve train and it felt like it was missing right off idle. again I was paranoid so I'm not sure if this was in my head or not.

Came home, turned the bike off, let it sit for about 20 min, went around the block trying to see if I could recrate the noise. Nothing. Bike ran flawlessly. No smoke or clatter or anything.

So..Where do I go from here? Not worry about it and see if it does it again? Or is there another route I can go?

Thanks

Probably nothing to worry about, but, since you were having problems starting you might want to remove the oil fill plug and see if the oil smells of gasoline.

What would that indicate?

Just that enough gasoline got past the rings while trying to start that an oil change would be a good idea.

Oh alright. I was debating changing it anyway. Better safe than sorry?

To add to this a little bit, I went on a ride today, bike did fine. Came home, turned bike off, opened garage door, went to turn bike back on, starter cranked once and I heard what sounded like a metal on metal "tink" sound. Bike didn't start. Pushed starter again, started up just fine.    W.t.f.
