I be found a DP ecu for an s4.
it's listed as 96508802B
which means its for a 2002- model.

my question is are there any differences in the ecu between 2001 and 2002, which would prevent me from being able to use it?

worst case is I guess I could flash it...  prefer not to, but if that is what must be done, then so be it.

anyone know?

Speeddog probably knows as I believe his S4 is an '01.

There are some differences is gauge clusters that might necessitate a different ecu.

'01 and '02 wiring harnesses are different.
'01 has a relay to run the radiator fans, '02 are run directly by the ECU.
Other differences too, IIRC.

AFAIK, '01 DP ECU in an '02 bike works, except only one radiator fan runs.

Haven't heard anything on '02 in '01.

On a side note, I've heard (unverified) that there were differences in the fuel maps based on which DP kit you had; ie. the exhaust/open air box top vs. the exhaust/air box top/race cams.

Nice find on the ecu, is it NOS or previously loved?

02 runs with stand down, stops when put into gear.

It's a brand new ECU.

I also have the 50mm Termignoni pipes, and open airbox, which corresponds to this ECU map, but I am concerned about the wiring pinout - whether or not it has changed on the ECU.

The other thing I do not know about is the immobilizer.  on the 01, it is separate from the instrument cluster, no big deal, I figure the input into the ECU will still be the same - however,
not sure if I will need to have the immobilizer 'rekeyed' to the DP ECU.  I do not have the code card for my bike, but I do have the red key and both black keys. I think somewhere between the first and second owner the code card went walkabout.

I have the factory manual for my '01 and I can see the connections to the ECU.  If anyone has a copy of the electrical schematic for 02- could they please let me know?

I Like this.   I wonder if I'll need to butcher the harness though, or if it is based on the stand down /neutral switch parameters.

I've got a .pdf copy of the '02 shop manual. Check your pm's.
