Rear brake questions - help appreciated

Changing rear pads for the first time on my '99 ST2. I noticed the old ones were down close to the metal. Before I took off the old pads, I pried them open as much as I could, then installed the new pads. The new ones are much thicker and there is not enough room to fit the rotor.

It seems one piston sticks out further than the other, but since I haven't done this before, I'm not sure what to expect. Nothing looks damaged, but both pistons seem unmovable. Not sure how to proceed.

Any advice appreciated.

How much room is left in the reservoir?  If it is full that could be your problem.

It's right at the minimum line. I just cleaned everything with brake cleaner, took off the reservoir cap and diaphragm (hoping this would allow some give) and tried pushing both pistons in -couldn't get either to budge.

Think I'll try putting the old pads back in and prying against those...

Any other thoughts?  I appreciate the help.

Prying against the old pads worked. I'm good to go.  And I don't need to add more fluid  ;D.
