Exhaust popping while accelerating

This passed weekend I removed the db killers from my Mivv Suono mufflers on my 09 M1100.  They sound amazing, but I am getting a lot of popping while accelerating or just cruising.  My ECU was re-flashed to DP specs with a full exhaust, MWR power-up kit, and no O2's.  My question is, How do I get rid of the popping on accel?  Do I need a PCV or should I try cutting the db killers?  Thanks for the help!

Get rid of your exhaust leak and you'll get rid of the popping. Check the O2 sensor ports and make sure they are capped.

Almost 90 percent of the time its an exhaust leak.

I have no popping with the db killers in.  If I have an exhuast leak,  wouldn't there be popping with db killers?

Yes you are right. It could still be a fueling problem. But the added backpressure from dB killers can sometimes mask exhaust leaks. Have you done a full ride thru with the motor warmed up and db killers installed? If you live near some mountain twisties, take it up to a higher elevation and run around with db killers installed. See if your popping returns.

Its not hard to check for an exhaust leak. All you need is feeling in your fingers. Check the flanges at the heads. In my experience everything should be done at operating temperatures above 200F

Remember, its always easier to eliminate the obvious issues before you jump to the more expensive solutions. Be methodical.

Thanks!!  I'll check for leaks this weekend.

If no exhaust leaks, the next question is: When was your last valve adjustment?
