 bang head

Hey there,

I have a 2001 monster 900. It has a little over 13,000 miles on it and runs great.

Currently I have stock pipes on it and now finally I want to get some better ones.
But I'm a bit clueless on the matter. I know that Termi's a good but expensive, but
should I go with them?
Also, to get better performance out of switching my pipes, am I going to have to
do something to my computer or something for fuel reading. I heard that I might
have to do that.
Does anyone have an idea where I could get a great deal on some pipes for my bike?
Any other suggestions on other brands to make the bike sound and run great?

Also, I saw a pic of a great looking monster on this site, and I saw this part, located
right under the manifold, it covers it under the bike. What is the name of that part
and where can I get a matching one for my bike.

Any help would be great..

Thanks.

Choose your pipes by what you like the look of. By the simple fact that we drive monsters not superbikes hp is not the most important thing to us.

the under engine exhausts are quat-d, I do not know where to send you to buy one but try some of the board sponsors, they may know.

just slip-ons and you very well may be able to run without buying and fuel modifier like a powercomander. best to have the fuel injection set-up after and then just ride the bike and see if it is acceptable before spending more $$$.

Jeff at monster parts had some cheap megaphones that are well made (may be termi). On-cycles had some exhausts for sale in their clearance section.
good luck and have fun.

+1 getting the fuel injection tuned first before going with a Power Commander or other fuel management system.

In addition to looks, I'd go by sound too. A carbon exhaust will sound different from a Titanium one, low mount vs high mount, etc... I have low mount stainless reverse megaphones, and they're plenty loud, but more of a bowel-shaking earth rumbling boom.

I believe the part that you describe as covering the lower portion (including manifold) of the bike is called sometimes called a belly pan. (check the board sponsors to see what options they have)

I think you're referring to what's called a chin fairing or belly pan.

Are you talking about the red piece under the engine on the following bike?

I don't know if you can buy one new that's already painted to match your bike or not, but keep an eye on ebay and the Parts For Sale section here.

I have a carbon fiber one that might be going up for sale in the near future also.

+1 on the belly pan.  Do you guys remember a page with several sound clips of different exhaust systems on monsters.....I think North West Ducati or Ducati Seattle had the link.  This was 2006, but it would be very useful here.

Hey thanks,

all help was welcome. really.

Went to a ducati dealer the other day and found a great deal on a set of carbon fiber Termi's , low mount for my bike.
Guy who works there is really cool and is hooking me with a store discount. It sounded to good to be true, so I looked around
a bunch of places and no one can beat the deal. Brand new too...Awesome..

thanks for the help..

Now another issue, lol.

i took my bike out for spin yesterday, and when I got home, turned it off for a few, started it back up so I can park it inside,
my hand grip, throttle, got a bit stuck. Usually I rev it and it snaps right back, but yesterday, it snapped back way to slow.
Any clues to what I should do?
thanks

Hey thanks,

thanks for the help..

That monster looks awesome doesn't it.

Yeah, it's the belly pan I'm looking for. I think it would look great on my bike. I found a site called, Wild Hair Accessories, and they carry a
wide variety of belly pans.  I wrote them an email and they can get me one to match my bike, and on it a small black and white checkered
flag to match my tank graphics. The part will be ordered from Germany, and shipped to Arizona, then to me. The part cost 295.00 dollars,
and shipping from Germany to Arizona is 45.00 dollars. No shipping costs from Arizona to my house. Probably because price includes it. Dam,
it's a bit expensive isn't it?  I'm trying to find a cheaper one, so I'll be looking around.
Any pics of your bike..

Any clues to what I should do or what the problem is?

The belly pan isn't on it in the pics though (and is consequently undamaged.)

It's identical to the one on Juan's bike pictured above though, except it's unpainted carbon fiber.
