Suddenly this started acting up on me, it stays lit up no matter what, even with a full tank.

Where do I start?  Thanks.

Give me your bike and I'll gladly give you the information.  Maybe a faulty low fuel sensor.  Thought I saw one on Fleabay when I was replacing mine.

Meh - the one on my '00 900 goes on when ever it feels like. I've just taken to ignoring it and go by my trip meter.
-Throttle's on the right, so are the brakes.  Good luck.

Buy a new sender and install it.  ;)

You could do what Slide Panda suggests and just ignore it,  they are not to be trusted anyway.  If you want to diagnose the problem it is pretty easy.  Lift the tank.  Turn key on.   There is an electrical connector on the bottom of the tank.  That connects to your fuel pump and low fuel sending unit.  If the light goes out when you disconnect the connector the sending unit is bad (assuming you have enough fuel)  If not, wiring or gauge cluster issue.
