Oil volume 900

I have a 2000 900ie and i'm wondering if you guys can get me close on an oil change. I am changing the oil for the first time, and I am wondering how much oil this thing takes. I plan on filling the filter before installing it. Can you guys get me close?

About 3 1/2 quarts.

Fill to top line in the window, run for 2 minutes or so.

Let sit for 2 minutes, fill to midpoint between lines.
Run 2 minutes again.

Let sit 2 minutes, fill to midpoint again.

All sightglass measurements are to be done with bike vertical, not on sidestand.

Awesome speed dog exactly what I needed to know. You really need to cycle it several times before its filled?

1st cycle to purge the air from the filter, and also from the cooler.

Second time just to be sure.

I just put 3 1/2 litres in them and leave it at that.
