2002 M620 fuel tank hinge leaks, what to do?

Hi all,

I got my 02 M620 a few weeks ago for free, yes see my other thread, and spent some time and & $ to recently get it running and street legal. When I first got it running I would only put like 1/2-1 gallon of gas in at a time figuring if she crapped out on me it wouldn't be such a hassle to drain the tank if need be...

All seemed to be well and by about the 3rd time I put a gallon in it I became aware of a fuel leak. I first thought it was the fuel pump O-ring since I had removed that cap to help get all the old crap gas out of it.(bike had been stored improperly for an unknown amount of years) But today upon further diagnostic inspection I am quite certain it is a leak at the hinge of the tank or rear seam...though I lean toward hinge leak. I think the first few bits of gas I put in were just filling the reserve tank or lower portions of the tank and that is why it didn't leak until I had gotten to the 3rd fill.

I understand this is a common and dreaded issue, so... Somebody please tell me how to rectify the issue. I am looking for all options and opinions, though I'd rather get it fixed legitimately instead of using some kind of DIY sealer. Does anyone do tank repair, specifically in Maryland or the Mid-Atlantic area? Or is a new/used tank the best bet? (Got one to sell?) Again, Please let me know what your experiences have been, and any/all options to fix it. So, bummed??? The upside: now I have the reason to get into the tank and do the filter and lines like I wanted to, and know it needed!

Our very own ducpainter will properly braze that area and treat the tank with POR 15.  Not quite local, he is in New Hampshire.
