wholey smokes batman, there's a S4R S Tricolore in my garage tonight

Today started like any other day, I got out of bed, then made my best attempt to look presentable for work and then things got a little out of routine. I went into the garage and opened the garage door then started my S2R 800. I typically choose not ride to work for a number of reasons two of which I will share. My good friend drives to work in his super huge Chevy Tahoe (He does not care about the cost of fuel because his employer provides him with a gas card
) this is where he shaves with his electric shaver and speaks on the phone (sometimes to me) SHAVING IN HIS CAR!! OMG WTF? You have to be looking in the mirror, shaving and driving - I seriously do not believe that he would even come close to seeing some poor shmuck on a lower profile scooter if it was right next to him. Secondly, I have a co-worker that chooses to drive to work and... You guessed it... he also shaves! Whoa... hold the horses, because he takes it a few steps further. He also eats his breakfast (usually a bowl of cold or hot cereal), Brushes his teeth, and we can not forget he also has to use his mouth wash. All of this while driving! Hell, why not read the news paper while sending a text on his phone as well. These guys are real good guys, but damn they are the epitome of thousands of drivers that are on the road every day. I do not want to put my life even remotely close to their hands.
Now do you understand why I don’t ride to work? People just do not pay attention to driving and what is around them. WHEW... enough said about that.
Getting back to the reason that I was riding to work... it was because I was taking the Duc for its 6K check up. Not a big deal but it had to be done. I had requested a loaner from the dealer so that I can get back home. The service manager who I spoke to while scheduling the service went to get some keys for a loaner bike. He brought around an '08 S4R S Tricolore. Wholly freakin' sh!t - a tri color for a loaner. SWEET. This only meant one thing. I was gonna to have leave work early to make sure that the tires on this Monster were rotating in the right direction and confirm that the muffler bearings where seated properly, of course, this had to be done up in the canyons.
So I left work a few hours early and headed up to bear creek for a quick ride. Just as I was leaving Morrison and was coming up on the Red Rocks entrances I was going to nail the throttle and pass a POS cage in front of me. But for some stupid reason I chose to hang behind the cage.
It turned out to be the right choice because when I got a little closer and I was going to pas him slowly I noticed the police lights in the back window of the car - It was an unmarked cop car!!! WHEW!! I just missed out on a 12 point / $500 ticket!! So using better judgment I slowed down and hung back away from the cop. I sped up and hit a few nice turns - WOW this bike has some spunk! I figured the only way for me to have some fun with this bike was to hit a few more turns behind the
then flip a u-turn and pound it down the canyon. So this is what I did. Just as I was approaching downtown Morrison cruising into town with high revs, it happened... BAM!! Wholly sh!t, WTF just happened? It felt like a giant hand just smacked me in the gut. It was an awesome sensation to flick the throttle and have the front end come off the ground and have the fuel tank hit me square in the gut! I feel like I have just cheated on my S2R (is that even possible?
) It sort of feels like cheating on my S2R followed by a "happy ending". This was an awesome ending to the day.
Sorry this was sooo long, but I just had to get the guilt off of my chest.

Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. The last time I rode my bike was in March, I've been patiently waiting for my steed to return to my garage in running condition and you just reminded me that it's not just "something" missing from my garage.
Again, thank you.

You are so right that it is not just "something " in the garage. I have found my passion for riding again. Not that it was lost. but now I am going to push my 800 cc a little harder

Excellent!
It's always good to find that passion to ride again. I think it's easy to get to a point where riding (motorcycles, bicycles, etc...) becomes less interesting, and dare I say, boring. I've gotten that way a bit with bicycles, and have been trying to find a way to get excited about it again, but it's been hard. Motorcycles... That's a different story.
Still, it's your baby and you know it loves to be ridden.

Do you really have to give it back?

It's all in the grind, Sizemore. Can't be too fine, can't be too coarse. This, my friend, is a science. I mean you're looking at the guy that believed all the commercials. You know, about the "be all you can be." I made coffee through Desert Storm. I made coffee through Panama while everyone else got to fight, got to be a Ranger.

That's purty. I know it's not yours, but if I could borrow it for just a bit ... I promise I'll bring it back soonish.

Oddly, now that my moto is out of the picture, likely for a good long while, I've been finding myself more driven to ride my bicycles again. Guess it's just that two-wheel obsession...

Oddly enough i am off of my mountain bike this summer due to some knee issues. know i find myself riding the Duc a lot more. it must be the two wheel obsession
aka passion
