Winter storage tips?

Plastic tank?
Drain it.  Don't take the chance.  I don't care what kind of pure gas you can find.  The only reason to keep gas in a tank during storage is with an unlined steel tank to prevent rust.
Pure gasoline still absorbs water and a plastic tank will wick that out of the mix.

I have many friends in Italy, who do leave NCPG (Not Corn Poisoned Gas  ) in their plastic tank Ducatis during the winter, w/out any problem.

The formulation of plastic used in non-US tanks is different.

Also, there are plenty of people in Europe having similar issues with tank deformation - in places with no or low ethanol gas.

I will add that those of us with carbs should run the bike parked with the fuel tap shut off (yes you should have one), draining the carbs of fuel so jets don't become clogged.

Read what ducatiz said for steel tanks.  An empty tank will rust.  In addition to that, empty carbs will varnish and seals might dry out.  And Stabil or equivalent, fill and run long enough to get through the carbs.

Ducatiz : You are right, I am going to drain and fog as usual.  Your routine is the way to go but overkill for me.  If it gets up to 45/50 degrees at any time I am riding, even for a short one, which only leaves three months of storage, and sometimes I get to take it out once or twice in that three months.

Thanks Ducatiz-Guess I'll drain the tank instead of leaving it full like I'd planned.  Regarding the anticorrosive spray you suggested-spray that all over any exposed metal?
