So I'm looking to pick up a multi, but having no idea waht to do with my monster I was thinking about buying the multistrada as parts and swapping over my motor. My question is how feasable do you think this is?
Im mostly interested in a motor swap due to how fun the 1100EVO motor is AND how much i dropped on tuning it with the reflashed ECU.

Yes I understand that the motor needs to be cut at the swingarm mount in order to fit the multi swingarm.

having never taken apart a Multistrada, I'm not sure if there are any specific parts that make it difficult to source. Or should I just try and buy a complete multi 1100 and live with the DS1000 motor?

Can't answer any of your questions, BUT I do know there is a Multistrada project for sale in the Chicago area for something like $1500? I'm sure you could get it shipped to you for a good price. I'll try and find the link.

Edit: I'm not seeing it, appears to have sold.

"There is no minimum."  - some guy.

Howie

The 1000 motor should not be that hard to live with.

He Man

There isn't much of a difference between the 1000ds and 1100 evo. After u tune the evo though... Wow!

I think I know which multinyour talking about. It was tossed on the track and has been partially torn down?

ChrisK

Not sure about the track. It was black with silver frame and wheels. Needed the oil line fitting on the motor welded or something.

Wrong one i guess, but i did get into contact with the guy over on ducati.ms

I wanted the frame, swingarm, wireharness and the stock exhaust. he was asking $600 for the whole lot. which is right about how much it would cost.

he apparently tossed all the fairings, which i feel will be the most expensive part of the build. it seems difficult to source those parts.

One of the regulars here built a great naked Multistrada.  I think it may have been TripleJ.  If I had a Multistrada with no fairing I think I'd think about finding or making a fairing for it similar to the classic bevel drive SS Ducati's of the 1970's.

Off topic - I haven't been paying enough attention around here lately,  did you finish school and you're now a civil engineer??

He Man

Making a fairing without some damaged ones is really too far along. im not that artistic. I can repair a set without issue though.

If fairings were cheap and easy to find, i would of bought a frame alreayd, but i cant seem to find them. I really want to get rid of my S2R1100 for a multi so i ended up posting the motor for sale. if i can get that sold then im going to just buy one. if not then im going to build one perhaps.... Im really looking to pick up a DR650!

yes, i finished school, i work as a civil engineer (structural engineering) and looking to finish my masters in geotechnical engineering...or structural, havent decided lol.
