I have a 94 M900 with oil leaking non adjustable Showa forks . Im planning suspension upgrade for my old monster this winter .New rear shock and install of new springs & maybe Racetech goldvalves in the forks was the idea .But now another option is available ..I have access too a 00 mod 748R the owner is parting out , and im offered a deal where we use the complete front with wheels from the 748R on my old Monster and he uses my old parts on another bike he is building up . I guess the Showa forks from the 748R will need new springs to work well on the Monster.
Has any one here knowledge / experience from a swap like this ? I will be happy if any one here can help me with some advice on technical issues , and if such a part swap is worth the work and cost compared to just give service to my old forks ?
The guy with the 748R parts is a skilled bike technician and will help me with all the work involved . We have also talked about an adaption of the 748R SS swingarm and rear wheel to fit my M900 .

The 748 fork/wheel/brake setup will be a pretty easy swap.

SBK forks are 53/53 diameter and Monster are 54/50.
So you'll need to shim the lower triple and either replace the upper triple or get it bored out (not my preference).

I think a bit of work with the 'search' feature will get you a lot of info.

Adapting the SSS to your bike is a *lot* of work.
