Because it isn't worth the time, even free time, to repair it, and leaving the bearing to free float back towards the rotor wouldn't be an option IMO.

Next time you remove a cover with a puller use a little shocking force, tapping with a plastic hammer, to avoid the kind of stresses involved that caused that failure.

I'll be sure to tap on it a bit the next time around. I was moving a bit too fast, easy to do when you're inexperienced.
