Hi there! Well my head has been spinning around with the crazy idea on how to make a kick starter for my 2002 620ie. And i wanted to ask for advice! 1. Forget it's crazy and maybe super expensive; 2. On the premise that the engine has to be turned so that the alternator generates enough power to fire up the injectors / sparks and make combustion... ( hope all this is correct  if not please correct me! ) then... I remember there's a tool that it's used to turn the crankshaft just by opening the left cover, so why not put a kick lever there to turn the engine and make the same process as the starter?! If too stupid please advice :D

too stupid.

elefants had kick starters, but I've never seen one or the bits used.  there's more to it than you allude to mechanics wise.

if it turns the efi will trigger, no need for any voltage other than a good battery.

so, the way to go should be get an "Elefant" engine and tear it apart, thanks!

Anything can be done with enough cash and/or will. Just read up on some of the 750/900 experiments Brad has done.
Two questions:
What's it worth to you to have a kick?
Why have a kick?

I started to look into it & stopped when it appeared that I would need to use an ancient transmission to make it work and that trans used bronze bushings and therefore wasn't strong enough for the motor I was going to kick start!

But, have at it! You'll be the only one on your block!

You could do that.

AFAIK, those Elefant engines had 5-speed transmissions, very likely to make room for the kickstart mechanism/gearing by eliminating one gearset.

Thank you all! I already found one Elefant engine which I intend to purchase. The 5 gear "tip" was really nice, thank you!

The kick starter should be on the right behind the clutch. Apparently early 90s Ducati motors still had the boss in the case where it mated with the trans.

my 2 cents; I recall hearing the Vincent's had a kick starter ... but if you didn't time it right you got a kick back; full jump in the air to turn her over and again it had to be in the right spot.
.... all the world is yours.
