Hi everyone.
I've got a 2006 800cc S2R Monster that is approaching 32k on the clock.
So got some questions if anyone can answer:
Are there any major services due around this km mark??
Also seeing a bit of engine oil on bottom of engine block. Is this normal for these engines to blow a bit or could this be a gasket issue??

Great forum!!

Cheers,
Taff

Welcome Taff  waytogo

Oil can come from many places, but I'd check the filter first - not uncommon with a few drops from there. Oil on a bike will move around due to wind, so cleaning it well and take another look during/after a ride is recommended.

The service intervals are described in the owner's manual - if you don't have it, download it from ducati.com > dealers and services > maintenance

How long have you had it? If you just purchased it and you don't know it's service history, it might be a good idea to service it no matter what the designated intervals are.

You can also grab an owner's manual from DNA if you don't already have one. It will list the service/intervals.

Ok thanks for the replies chaps.

I'll give it a clean this weekend and keep an eye on the oil.

I've owned the bike for 11mths so will have to go through the service history and check for previous services. I have the manual somewhere as well so will check that for any major service kms.

Cheers,
Taff

In the near term - one item you should investigate is your timing belts. They are to be replaced at 2 years from being put into service or 12k miles/ 20k Km (I think that's the Km number...) whichever comes first. It is not uncommon for the belts to be over due for replacement due to age on used Ducs

The gasket at the base of the vertical cylinder is prone to a bit of oil weep.

The big service should have been at the 30k mark

If there's oil at the bottom of the motor, giver her a good cleaning and then check the oil filter to see if she's tight enough
