Will the '99 ST2 Showa shock with the remote reservoir be a direct bolt in for the 695? Did the Showa have a progressive spring?

Thanks for any info.

Length and travel of the shock should be the same, so from that standpoint, yes.

Configuration of the hose and reservoir may require some mods to the 695 hardware to make it fit.

Dunno what spring it came with.

Glad you replied. I thought the remote res would be a good option and require less modding than one with the res attached. ie: no new breather or coil relocation. I am 190# and have to change the suspension on this bike. I plan on new Racetech or Traxxion springs up front and a new (used) shock for the rear.

A shock from an '01 or '02 Monster S4 is also an option.

It's been a while since I've seen an ST2 shock, not sure of the comparative features vs. S4 shock.

I've read many threads on the subject and I guess the S4 is the best candidate. I don't suppose you know what spring they came with?

Speeddog

S4 shock came with the same dodgy progressive spring as all the other Monsters.

Respring to suit your weight before installing.

There's the 'budget' single-adjustable Ohlins available as well.
