I've seen folks using the MegaSquirt the past few years on Chevy v-8s, Flathead Fords, etc.  Didn't know if anyone has tried on a motorcycle (Ducati?)?  @$400 for the ECU setup or @$170 build-yourself.  Any tuning / engineering guru's looking for a Ducati project that has a dead ECU and don't mind doing some experimenting?  (MegaSquirt's are physically big -- the MicroSquirt is a much smaller package designed for motorcycles from 1 to 16 cylinders)

Didn't know if the existing ignition / timing system could be leveraged with the above?  Re-use of existing injectors, sensors, etc?  Not my area of expertise and thus pushing it out here for conversation.

I'm fascinated by the idea, I'm just _way_ too time-poor right now to do anything about it...

There were definitely guys on the megasquirt forums a year or two back fitting these to v twin motorcycles, including at least one guy with a 750SS Ducati...

That`s what you usually use when putting aftermarket ECU`s on.
From a quick look I`d say it works on a Duc.

Someone asked a similar Microsquirt question a month or so ago and I don't think there were any responses.  I don't understand how the gauges and the bloody immobilizer work with the ECU and that's my major concern, how to tie the  Microsquirt into the gauges so that they work together without the immobilizer.  Probably easy, I just don't know exactly how to do it. I think you'd need a bunch of electrical connectors but all in all I don't think it would be too much of a project.

If you moved to a micro/megasquirt type ECU you'd either run both that and the factory ECU both on the bike with the factory ECU only handeling the gauges, immobilizer functionality would generally be lost, or you would use aftermarket gauges and completely toss the ractory electronics.

I've been looking into this for awile myself.  Not much Ducati info out there, this is the best I've found http://www.msruns.com/viewtopic.php?f=93&t=609

Would be an interesting project though I do not think I have the resources or the know how to write my own map to get the thing going.

Have you done a MS conversion on a Ducati?  I have realy been looking into this, more so now that FIM & the U59 are no longer an option.  I have read of multiple Paso's running MS, but there crank sensor system seams to be different from the newer bikes.  From what I can tell the new bikes use a 46 - 2 tooth setup that runs at cam speed as both a crank & cam sensor, am I correct?  Has anyone written a code for the MS that will read this?

No, I have a MyECU on my 907IE.

Dirty Duc

It worked.  There are enough variables that it only works sometimes and is not for beginners.
