It's that time again.  Looking at some Pirelli Angel GT or Diablo series tires but all Diablo series rears appear to be 180 width minimum with 55 aspect ratio vs the stock 170/60 size.  Bike currently has AVON Storm II Ultras, which have been quite good on the bike with decent mileage and handling.  But thinking of going to Pirelli if sizing is available.

Will a 180 fit and even if it fits, will it hurt or help handling?

Also, any experience with Pirelli Angel GT, Diablo Rossa series?

Thanks for the input!!!

The 180 on a 5.5 inch rim is my preferred choice. It doesn't adversely affect handling.

No experience with those tires.

Pirelli Angel GT are the updated Angel ST.
I've gotten over 12k miles out of two ST rears, and currently over 20k on a front.
They are quite durable, and have good traction.
Can't speak of ultimate wet weather performance, we've gotten somewhere between 4 and 8 raindrops here since I started running them.

I'm running a 180/55 on a 5.5 rim, it's fine.

I have a 180 section Michelin Pilot Road 2 on my 2000 900ie.  No issues.  Also 5.5 inch rim.

I had a 1999 900 and didn't tell the dealer to put a 180 on, so the dealer put a 170.

Do a 180.  After having a 180 on my bike for 3 years and then switching to a 170, I was not thrilled.  The 180 not only looks better, but felt more stable (slower tip-in) to me and also allowed me to get rid of the chicken strips on the road.
