I have had a few offers along those lines, the liabilities are enormous... If I wasn't in the middle of a big client deliverable I'd ride it myself.  Last three years I just flew home to San Diego every weekend, different contract this year plus there looks to be some nice roads up here around Mt. St. Helen and the Columbia gorge

I thank everyone for the suggestions - I'll figure something out. I will try keyboard motorcycle shipping   give them a call see if they will recommend someone.

I can tell by the photo of the 1098 coming off the truck  that JC found someone making the same run with some empty space in the back and stuck the bike in there. I can see where it is the luck of the draw just have to hope there isn't a refrigerator tipped over on the bike when it gets to the destination

They used STI for the long route, and then local delivery from local service.
18 wheelers do not work well for local delivery.
I could have avoided the local truck if I had gone pick up the bike at SJC offload point.

Offload point - thanks for the tip. I'll make sure to ask about that option. Portland is a big shipping city maybe they'll have an offload point in the area

Most folks do not know that Amtrak will also ship motorcycles.  If it fits on a pallet it can be quite inexpensive.

I am still open though to riding it up for you.  Always wanted to take along trip and learn to do wheelies and drift......

It is possible to ship in a mc container.  Forward Air has containers.  Other carriers should have containers too.  Received my Moto Guzzi from Seattle to South Carolina, not a scratch.

I've used haulbukes.com twice (once to ship new from dealer in IN to NJ/NYC; and another time to ship from NJ to FL). They were good, though I guess on the expensive side ~$800 and take about 5-8 weeks. You don't have to do any prep work, they pick it up as-is with fluids. They have a pretty good fleet of trucks. Didn't have to claim insurance, so can't comment on that. But they seem to be professional folk.

I was initially scared to tow behind my car and hence used them. After shelling ~2k in shipping the two times, I decided to get a hitch installed on my car ($300) and used a u-haul trailer after that. If you have a car, its probably a weekend trip. [Lesson I learn't, don't put a tarp on the trailer if its raining. Just ride it open and clean off any road grime off at destination. The tarp snapped off both of my mirrors]

Shipping was flawless. Notified well in advance of pickup, and he even has a web based tracker he sends when he is close to delivery. The truck is purpose built for transporting motorcycles. He does not leave the side stand deployed during shipping. Jose make a run from southern California to the Oregon Washington area
