Acewell Speedo Help

Hi all, I'm hoping somebody here has some ideas on what's going on with my speedo, because Acewell hasn't been a help at all. Here's the story:

I mounted the Acewell on my bike around last September, and it worked great. It had worked great up until June this year, so basically 9-10 months of problem free riding. I was at a track day and towards the end of the day I noticed, while riding, that my speedo had completely shut off, no back light no nothing. I finished the day and we ended up having to pack up our gear in a really bad rain storm. It rained most of the way home too. When I got home I went about unloading the bike and all my gear. When I rolled the bike off my hauler, I flipped the key on and the speedo lit up. I thought, great!

The next time I went for a ride, it worked fine, just like it was supposed to. About a week later, I noticed it wasn't keeping an accurate speed. It would read correctly up to about 35 mph, then jump anywhere from 30-40 up to around 70 mph. Occasionally it would jump into the 100's.

I contacted Acewell telling them I believe the speedo had gone bad, because I did not change anything in the setup. The magnet stayed the same, the sensor stayed the same, no change in wiring, settings on the speedo where were they're supposed to be, etc. They sent me a new sensor, claiming it may have gone bad on me. So I installed the new sensor, no change. I told them about it and they sent me a new speedo. I installed that, no change. So now I'm stumped.

What could be causing two separate speedos and two separate sensors to be reading such wonky numbers? The distance from sensor to magnet has not changed, and the settings have not changed. It worked great for almost a year. While I'm riding it's still predictable, even though the numbers are wrong. For instance, I can ride with the speedo saying 101 mph, and I know that the bike is going around 65 mph. What I'm saying is, the numbers don't bounce around. They stay consistent.

Any ideas?

wheel magnet changing position due to radial acceleration?  maybe the
magnet position is marginal, and the acceleration due to rotation causes
it to move into a position which causes problems?

It doesn't move, it hasn't moved this whole time. I actually have it epoxied in place because the first couple of magnets I tried the first day I had it flew off. It's solid.

if its not the sensor and its not the speedo then its got to be in between.

check all connections. check all wiring.

look for corrosion, loose gounds, melting and crushed wires.

if it all looks great run your hand along the wire and feel for internal breaks.

Wait a minute..... You say that Acewell has been no  help at all. Then you say that they sent you a new sensor, and then a new speedo. It sounds like they bent over backward to help to me!
You should be careful how you talk about a company that hasn't done any wrong.

Hi,

I suspect voltage regulator inside your dash to be damaged.
I have repaired GSXR dash with similar issue. Sensors going bonkers and replacement sensors could not solved the problem. Cheapo LM7805 regulator inside was bust.

If you can send me the dash by post, I can have a look a see if I can troubleshoot.

I don't think you read the whole post. The entire "dash" has been replaced.
