trying to replace my 2007 S2r m800 left engine cover

i just  bought a 2007 s2r m800 and the owner before me had ran the bike with a loose chine causing the chine to rub on the generator cover to the point that it needs to be replaced. i am new to bikes so any advice would be great. thanks.

You should review the ducati workshop manual or something similar, at a minimum for torque values and steps.

You'll need an "alternator cover" puller (cheap) and either an aftermarket fiber gasket or a suitable sealant.

Depending on how you source your replacement cover, you might need to swap over some parts from old to new.

A cheap steering wheel puller will work.  If you use a gasket you will need to properly shim the ignition timing sensor.  When removing the fasteners, note length and position.  Yes, having a manual is a good idea.  Just in case, sensor air gap is .6-.8mm, cover bolts 10Nm.
