Picked up a 100% stock 2007 S2R1000 this past summer with only 2017 miles on it. I have put about 1500 miles on it and am loving it. But the front end felt a bit soft and the damping felt a bit sloppy, tried adjusting and tweaking but it just does not have a planted feel. Decided to do some winter mods, Racetech valves, new oil, and springs. Have a friend who owns a motorcycle shop and has done over 100 Racetech kit installs, when he drained the forks one had clean garnet red fluid and one had nasty dark brown fluid. Pulled them apart and the bushings were completely worn in that leg, the one with the red fluid only had slight wear. Any ideas what could cause only one leg to look so toasted?

Perhaps that fork leg is an older one that was used to replace the original that got damaged?

Could be, I guess with any used bike purchase there could be some mysteries. Can't wait to try out the freshly rebuilt forks but the constant waves of snowstorms in the Northeast US may delay that for a while.

Just a heads up, the bushings removed from my Showa 43U forks were:
Inner= 43mm dia. / 20mm height / 1mm thick
Outer= 43mm dia. /20mm height / 2mm thick

The Racetech chart lists the inner as 15mm(H) which was incorrect and Parts Unlimited lists the outer as 15mm(H) which was also incorrect. Did Ducati use the same forks on the '06,'07, and '08 S2R1000's?

All 43mm Monster adjustable forks I've had open were the same parts, at least by eye.

Not a huge sample size, so YMMV.
