Hi,
i know what your gonna say, the torque values have already been posted so stop wasting your time.

But I've read them all, and other than " Unspecified fasteners  M6x1  10  9  11" I cant find them.

The reason I'm asking is that I've sealed it twice and blown it twice (but I do think the second was down to my eagerness to get it away and filled it asap) so am I using the correct values? or short I try something different??

If you're saying that the spec that you're using is 10N-m (9-11 N-m), I would say that is the appropriate torque. You can refer to the service manual for any modern water cooled Ducati to check (I don't know what type you have, so I can't be more specific than that). See, for instance, the torque specs given in the 1098 manual: . I've never done this, but I've done lots of similar things on various cars and bikes, and there are standard precautions that you should take with situations like this (mating soft metals with liquid gasket):
-Make sure that both surfaces are perfectly clean and completely free from any burs, dents, etc.
-make an even bead of liquid gasket surrounding each of the holes, unless you have reason to do otherwise
-Align it and press down once; don't reposition and smear the RTV all over the place.
-Tighten fasteners to hand tight in a star pattern like you're tightening lug nuts.
-If you're concerned about even mating, tighten in a star pattern at intermediate torque values, then torque to spec (i.e. tighten to 5N-m, then to 10N-m).
-Most important: Wait at least the amount of time listed for it to be completely dry before using it.

Unless your torque wrench is broken, I doubt the torque is the problem, and I think that if you're careful and thorough the next time, the cover is unlikely to leak.

thanks for the reply,
I always miss the most important things out, the bike is a 2005 s4r. I've spent up to 2hrs prepping the surfaces. first using a razor blade to remove any remaining sealant. I would then use petrol to clean the surfaces, then finally wash down with water. the surfaces are then spotless.
I've then applied the sealant to the covers surface, fitted it to the bike hand tightened the fixings then torqued up to 10nm. the only thing I haven't done is tighten them in a star pattern.
finally, I'm still unsure whether the torque is correct, does anybody know the correct torque as the "Unspecified fasteners" only refers to 1 fixing.

Torque specifications, for the most part, depend more on the size and grade bolt than the application.

10 Nm or 7 ft/lbs is correct for standard grade 6x1.0 mm fasteners. You wouldn't want to tighten that application more because you'd strip the threads in the aluminum cover.

I think bond is right...something else is up. Have you looked at the cover to make sure it's flat and not warped?

Curing time is also important, this is a cover on a pressurized system, less forgiving.
