What's the best way to store a dry fuel tank without rust setting in?

If I spray inside with WD-40 and then wrap the tank in plastic will the WD-40 have any negative effects in the future when fuel is added and the tank is later used?

If this is a NOS tank and has survived the last however many years with no rust it should survive the next however many years too.

I think I'd avoid the chemical process and just put a desiccant pack into the plastic bag and seal the tank and pack up and call it good.
