After a 3 month stint of riding my faithful S2R1000 over the hills for a work project in all weathers (19 thunderstorms! Yes I counted them!)
My bike started spluttering and running rough. Turned out after some investigating that the negative from one of the injectors had dropped out... I downloaded the circuit diagram and found a joint of 5 negatives, BUT no indication as to where this joint actually is on the bike. Reluctantly I started cutting down the main loom ,didn't need to go far before I hit water, the loom was completely flooded with water and holding it! Only 4 or so inches down a large frothy green ball  emerged with the suspect injector negative completely disconnected , this explained the intermittent rough running for the previous couple of weeks.
Cleaned the joint, desoldered,resoldered,
Job done, runs perfectly.
Re- taped the whole loom with self amalgamating tape leaving a drain at the bottom - which took 5 hours! because of its torturous route and I'm a perfectionist and all is well!
So if your S2R starts running rough and you ride in all weathers check the injector continuity, and for the hidden joint /corrosion before pulling the fuel pump out etc....

I love solutions like this, as it can save other people so much time and frustration.

Glad you got it sorted out! Thanks for posting up. Got a photo of the location in the harness where you discovered the corrosion?
